The Peer2Peer Support program offers an online live chat service for women and their families.
We offer one-2-one support with empathy and a non-judgmental attitude.
Our Peer2Peer Support Program is made possible by our selection of volunteers, who have themselves experienced physiological and/or physical injuries from a difficult birth and are in a place where they can now support others who are walking the journey to recovery.
We are currently accepting expressions of interest from men and women wishing to be peer support volunteers with the ABTA. Training and ongoing support are provided and your time commitment is very flexible so you can honour your family, work and leisure commitments.
Before applying, we encourage volunteers to read ABTAs Position Statements to learn more about our approach to maternity care.
In order to look after our volunteers’ well-being, we encourage you to wait until you consider yourself ‘well on the way to recovery’ and a minimum of 12 months postpartum before applying, as you will be regularly exposed to experiences that may reflect your own and therefore trigger painful memories.
